Just when I thought there would not be anything new I could hear, in walks James! Everything he described matched exactly with what I see and hear in my classroom. His strategies are extremely accessible and I can easily implement right away! Thank you!

It was excellent information and strategies about how to motivate students who may not be engaged in the classroom with solid techniques supported by evidence.

This training was amazing and relevant. I enjoyed the fact that it was based in strategy that I’d open for altering based on your own classroom or school.

Diane McRandal
Instructional Coach
The descriptions of the classroom cultures help teachers see the how to build student connection, engagement, and motivation. Education needs to change. The old straight rows, group content movement, and inflexible presentation model need to be removed from all classrooms. Allowing students to move at their pace, connecting knowledge to their lives and needs will allow learning to become a life-long process rather than a classroom skill.
The Math Essentials Academy Testimonials

Kim Rudolph
It was a powerful reminder that our job in math instruction is to help students make sense of the mathematics before we introduce rules, shortcuts, or memorized procedures. The session centered on how students build deep understanding when teachers focus on meaning—using models, reasoning, and conceptual clarity—rather than relying on tricks or hand motions that don’t transfer. We explored what it looks like to slow down, be intentional, and guide students to understand the why behind the math so they can confidently apply it in new situations.

L’Asia McCaster
This session emphasized that our students are resilient but they need to freedom to do so. They need community. We as educators need to use gamification, and we need to master our content so that we can help students with possible misconceptions. I really enjoyed this session!

Caroline Snoots
I loved the visuals and the explanations. I was taught the algorithms and just did them as my teacher told me to do. As a teacher, however, I needed to make sense of the concepts myself before I could teach them. I try to do this in the classroom with my students. Unfortunately, due to many variables coming together, I tend to slip back into teaching the algorithm. This session was a refreshing reminder to get back to discovery in class. I felt joy watching James work through the whys of the math problems. Thank you.

The content in this session was both necessary and impactful. If we are to end math failure, we must implement the framework, tools, and strategies from this session. As an administrator, James’ content allowed me to see how to support my teachers in ensuring our kids are successful.
